a brand new online class
Painting flowers is not something new. Flowers have been the subject matter of many a painter throughout history. I had always resisted painting flowers. I thought it was too cliche'. I thought that I could never do a flower justice and I had no interest in photo realism. So why even try? And that is the story of why I began to create this class. One day I sat down to just play. I had a little time and a lot of inspiration and yet no idea of what I wanted to paint. I began to just dabble with colors and a variety of mediums. I was guided by the color, shapes and patterns and lo and behold a beautiful vase of flowers emerged. And then they just started coming, one after the other.
I surprised myself because not only did they, literally, bloom in front of me, but I loved them. And I loved the process. I decided this was something I really wanted to share. So you see, this class is not so much about painting flowers (although we sure will), but about the process and about playing. Because that is how we grow!
Throughout our time together, I hope to offer you a nurturing and fun place to gather, learn, create, share, and blossom as an artist.
I will show, share and discuss a variety of ideas and mediums and projects for you to play with using flowers as the subject. Of course, there is no time limit and nothing mandatory. You can pick and choose what you think you will like to do at your very own pace and sharing your work is optional too. However, I will tell you that the more you play and experiment (a.k.a practice), the more beneficial to you and your creative practice (and more fun too)!
